Change to email function in Blackboard Toolkit

December 15th, 2010 IMG Posted in Blackboard Toolkit Comments Off

Recent changes to Banner have affected our ability to provide class rolls from previous semesters in Toolkit. After grades are rolled in Banner, we cannot get class rolls that exclude withdrawn and dropped students. Because email cannot be sent to students who withdrew or dropped, we can no longer email students from previous terms.

However, we have developed this work-around: You can download the roster from Blackboard and use the students’ GID information to send a message through Groupwise by copying their User Names from that column. A video help file of this process is available.

UPDATE: The email function for Fall 2010 courses in Toolkit will be restored on Dec. 19, 2010. Toolkit code sees the dates of Dec. 19, May 15, August 15 as the end of term; after those dates, it strips status and the roster is again available. It is only the time period between the grades rolling to Banner and the end of term date (for the appropriate semester) that you will need to use the work around I described earlier.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call IMG at 844-5181.

Tech Bit #13 – New Blackboard Toolkit Feature

June 4th, 2009 IMG Posted in Blackboard Toolkit, Tech Bit Comments Off

Tech Bit

A new feature for Blackboard Toolkit has been released. After logging into Blackboard Toolkit, you will see all your courses for the current semester. No need to type your last name in the Instructor field or hunt for your specific courses– they’re already displayed! If you would like to switch to a different semester, select the term in the list at the top and then click “My assigned classes in term.” The courses for the selected semester will appear at the bottom.

As a general reminder, a course will not appear unless you are attached to the course as an instructor in Banner. If a course does not appear, contact the person who builds the courses in Banner for your department.
